May 23 - 26, 2014  Memorial Day Weekend

Location

Camp Mariah in Fishkill, NY

Theme

Matthew 13:44-46 (NIV)
The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.

Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.

Peter Ong
Pastor of King's Cross Church in Flushing, NYC

Peter grew up in Queens as a child of immigrant parents. He is currently the Ruling Elder and Director of Gospel Community at Living Faith Community Church (PCA) as well as a Fellows at Redeemer's City to City Church Planting Center.

Peter planted King's Cross Church in October 2012, a church plant with Living Faith Community Church in the downtown Flushing area.

He attended New York University and worked in the Asian American non-profit sector for five years before being called to full-time youth ministry.

Peter formerly served:
  • as the Associate Director of Pastoral and Laity Ministry where he served in a pioneer project to equip Asian American leadership through fellowship, training and mentoring
  • as the Director of Youth Ministry with the Chinese Christian Herald Crusades' Herald Youth Center
  • on the Board of Directors for Hope for New York, a mercy and justice ministry
  • as a liaison to the Billy Graham Crusades of Greater New York, working with community churches to reach local youth
  • as an advisor to the Teen Eastern Chinese Bible Conference.

Peter regularly preaches at churches, youth conferences and to himself in front of a mirror.

In addition to working in ministry, Peter has published reviews on graphic novels, and comics. He also writes on his blog at www.peterong.wordpress.com.

Peter Ong is happily married to Jamie Ong. They love hiking, cooking and eating. They live in Flushing with their sons Nicolas and Noah.

His loves: Jesus, Youth (especially chubby ones), being married, Hymns, Dim Sum, Apple products, ice cream, sushi, music, books and his church folks.

His dislikes: Satan, vegetarian hot dogs, cheese, soy milk (he gets bloated), romantic comedies (that seems redundant to me), and sweaty noses.

An Invitation from the Chair

Hello, and welcome! Thank you for taking the time to visit the TECBC website. If you have never heard of this conference before, it is a weekend to come to learn about God while in community with other youth in the greater NYC area. In previous years, God has made a profound impact on the hearts of our teens.

The committee and I are very excited for the upcoming conference this May. They have been hard at work preparing Bible studies, group games, and other fun and engaging activities for you. Peter Ong, our speaker this year, is an excellent teacher with many years of youth ministry under his belt. We hope you will consider joining us this Memorial weekend as we retreat from our daily routine and learn what it means to treasure our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
