TEEN WORKSHOPS
Family Matters - Geoff Ng
"You know parents are the same no matter time nor
place/ They don't understand that us kids are gonna make some mistakes/ So to
you, all the kids all across the land/There's no need to argue, parents just
don't understand." - Will Smith.
Sometimes home can be the hardest place to live. In our time together, we'll discuss some of the challenges that our families face, what it means to live for Jesus in the midst of tough situations with parents and siblings, and how we can be empowered to bring Christ's love into our family situations. We'll also talk practically about how to minister to our family members, Christian and not.

Grey Areas - Barry Huang
What is sin? - As Christians we don't have to live by the law anymore, but yet we still have the ability to sin. In high school and now especially in college we face many different types of temptations, how do we decide what is a sin or not? In this workshop we will discuss many different "grey areas" and how we can deal with them practically using the Bible.
Living Up To Expectations - Cristobal Tong
"Our mental self-portrait,
that self-image, has a tremendous bearing on our emotional and spiritual
well-being... Research has shown that we tend to act in harmony with our mental
self-portrait. If we don't like the kind of person we are, we think no one else
likes us either. And that influences our social life, our job performance, our
relationships with others." - Josh McDowell, Building Your Self-Image
Every generation is given a different title, The Silent Generation, Baby Boomers, Generation X and now the Millennials. These titles are given to represent the era and values of those born in that generation. Values change, fashion styles change, music changes, the world changes -- but one thing that remains constant for youth in all these generations is they sought to find themselves -- who they are, what should they do, why are they here. The answers they came up with after all the seeking is their self-image - the motivation that moves them forward. Today's youth is no different, we are seeking for our whos, whats and whys to form our own self image. In this workshop, we'll examine these questions and more to hopefully come out with a clearer picture while looking to see how God plays the most important role in this search.

Heart of God x Intercession – Symphony Chau
What does it mean to seek after the heart of God? What does it mean to ask God to break our hearts for what breaks His? What does it mean to weep and cry out for our family, friends, and even enemies? Do you feel like you are called to stand in the gap? This workshop will discuss these questions and more on how to dive into intercession as a calling, a lifestyle, and how it fits in the Church.
Unity In The Body Of Christ - Fran Yee
"I don't need you!"
That is not so. How many times do people try to do their own thing or do
things their own way when they need to work together, even in the Christian
circle. We should be all united like we are all different pieces to one
puzzle, different instruments in one band, different actors in one show,
different parts to one body. Together we will work along side each other
and put this to practice as we learn to work together in unity in the body of
Christ. Warning: This is not your knowledge gaining workshop.
Active participation is required.
Really Good News - Steve Xia
What is the "Good News" of Jesus, and is it really all that good? Perhaps you've heard the "Good News" (or a version of it, anyway) so many times that it's no longer as "Good" as it used to be. You, though you might never admit to anyone but yourself, would simply call it "News", and that it's only "Good" when you need some way to deal with your guilt after you've watched porn or got wasted at a party or [insert whatever sin you want here]. If that's your version of the "Good News", then I'm afraid you've missed an incredibly deep, relevant, and beautiful part of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Come and join us as we rediscover and recapture the heart of this "Good News", and see why it's actually really, really good.
Girl Talk - Danielle & Nikki Chei
Boys often wonder, "What do girls talk about? Why do they talk for hours?
Don't they get bored?" As a girl, those questions
are easy to answer. Crushes, personal updates, and gossip tend to eat up those
precious hours; we believe that talking strengthens our relationships with each
other. If this is so, how much more can we grow through sharing positive
things? Just as gossip can tear people down, constructive conversations can
build people up (1 Thessalonians 5:11). How can we learn to be true, loving
sisters to our friends? How can we get over the temptation to gossip and judge
others? Join us as we explore ways to become better sisters and daughters of
Christ.
On the Move Via Hiking - Doug Bolan
Once again we're heading outside to marked trails (you'll need proper foot-wear to partake in a serious hike) to illustrate some important aspects of living the life JESUS had in mind. This workshop is for those who are really serious about intentionally living for God and seeing their lives count for Him, for the Body of Christ and for those outside the Family. This workshop will also serve to encourage participants personally. Workshopees will be instructed and exhorted on practical principles that can be carried out in their day-to-day living, in their real world, when they return from TECBC.
